Introduction

When managing a Wordpress e-shop with WooCommerce, selecting the right package, cardboard box or locker for shipping products can become complicated, especially when an order includes multiple products of different sizes.

To simplify  this proccess, we developed a custom plugin that calculates the total volume of products in an order and automatically suggests the appropriate package, cardboard box or locker based on the dimensions registed in  WooCommerce.

This plugin is compatible with: WordPress 6.7 / WooCommerce 9.7 / PHP 8.1

How Does the Plugin works;

1. Retrieving Product Dimensions 

The plugin extracts the dimensions (height, width, depth) of products registered in WooCommerce.

2. Calculating Total Volume

• For each product in the order, its volume is calculated (Height x Width x Depth).

• Then, the sum of the volumes of all products is computed.

3. Selecting the Appropriate Package, Cardboard Box or Locker

The plugin compares the total volume with the list of available packages, cardboard boxes or lockers you have registered.

It then suggests the smaller package, cardboard box or locker that can accommodate the order, saving space and cost. 

Requirements to ensure proper operation 

• Each product in WooCommerce must have accurate dimensions (Height, Width, Depth) registered. 

• The vendor or the store administrator must have registered the availabe packages or lockers and their dimensions in the system.

• All the calculations concern the internal dimensions of the package or locker.
